Body
Overview
Dialing 911 from Webex on a computer with an incorrect location may route your call to the wrong dispatch center or present inaccurate address information, potentially delaying emergency help.
Please use your mobile phone or a traditional landline to dial 911 if possible. Only use Webex for emergency calls if these methods are not available, and only from your verified, registered physical location.
Requirements
This change only affects Webex on desktop computers (Windows PCs and Macs). Mobile devices (smartphones/cell phones) are not impacted, as Webex routes emergency calls directly through your cell carrier.
Instructions
-
Log out and back in: Log out of the Webex desktop app on your computer and log back in so your account receives this update.
-
Set your location: After logging back in, you should see an Emergency Calling Notification prompt directing you to enter your location. Enter and confirm your current physical address to activate your phone services.

-
Check your settings: If you do not automatically see the prompt, look for the E911 settings option at the bottom of your Webex screen next to Call Settings. If you have issues finding these settings, contact itsupport@williams.edu for assistance.
